Galaxy Tablet 8.9 Rocks
At the heart of a patent battle between Apple and Samsung, the small Galaxy Tab 8.9 is struggling to find its place in the home. It is in this complex context where some countries or regions of the world will never taste the pleasure of owning one, that writing tablet touch screen offers its watchful eyes on this little gem.
Just before starting this test, remember that there are a multitude of products in the Galaxy Tabs. Starting with the first name: Galaxy Tab (P1000), followed by the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7510) and Galaxy Tab 8.9 (P7310) – the one we tested – finally here the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (the true successor of the Galaxy Tab first name).
The Galaxy Tablet 8.9 is the second generation of Samsung touch pad, it is a tablet comprising a beautiful 8.9 inch TFT screen (with a resolution of 1280 × 800), with at its heart a processor 2 1GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and the usual wireless connectivity: Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth 3.0, but no USB port.
With the overall design of the Galaxy Tablet 8.9 (and 10.1 per well), Samsung is betting grace and harmony. It’s beautiful, pleasant to the touch even if it’s mostly plastic shell the tablet gives an impression of rigidity in hand.
At first glance, all components of the system were redesigned the interface is in white and gray, which contrasts with the black and blue of Android 3.0 Honeycomb. And nothing but the color change brings some clarity in the display. It’s stupid but very simple. Anything but ultra simple beast: Samsung touch of a button allows making screenshots; it is very convenient especially here in Galaxy Tablet 8.9!
As usual on an Android tablet, you can afford to do everything as the processor and RAM stand. Surf the internet, read a book, watch a video (Samsung tablets among the few tablets that can play almost all exist formats except 1080p high-profile video) or send an e-mail are the basic usages of a tablet and Galaxy Tablet 8.9 supports very well.
Moreover, to enhance the use of the unique Tab 8.9, Samsung has created five hubs offering many additional uses. These hubs are focused applications. Kids Hub: true hub for children (as the name suggests), they can find content from mainly Nickelodeon. Episodes of their favorite cartoons, games such as the famous “dot connecting” Dora the Explorer, puzzles to solve, etc.
Pros and Cons
- Harmony of the design
- TouchWiz 4
- Hubs created by Samsung
- good battery life
- The lack of physical connection: yes and when testing the Thrive 10 just before, this is a point that seems missing.
- Galaxy 8.9 is synchronized with Samsung Kies, iTunes-house Korean brand.
- The classification of applications is completely anarchic.
Nomadic or sedentary, that’s the whole point of this Samsung Galaxy Tablet 8.9. It is capable of taking both types of uses. Thin and light and with a very good screen (and a good resolution), it will accompany you in your desire for multimedia.
Finally, Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a good tablet, it’s just a shame that it is at the center of a conflict as great as that between Samsung to Apple.
